It can also capture 5K video.
Confirming earlier leaks, the GoPro Hero 9 Black has finally been announced. It brings with it some of the most significant upgrades compared to previous generations that include a full-color display at the front. It’s gotten expensive too, now costing around $450 which is more than what the Hero 8 Black cost when it launched last year.
The Hero 9 Black bumps up the resolution on all aspects: images now shoot at 20-megapixels, and you now have the option to shoot 5K video at 30fps. If that is too much for you, you can still use 4K 60fps recording on the camera, which provides a smoother output.
The battery of the Hero 9 Black has also been increased to 1,720 mAh, which GoPro says is 40 percent larger than the Hero 8 Black. The front lens also gains a removable cover, and GoPro is launching a Max Lens mod next month that adds a wider frame for an extra $99.
Our favorite upgrade on the Hero 9 Black is probably the full-color display at the front that easily lets you preview shots especially if you’re shooting yourself. The rear touchscreen display is also larger at 2.27-inch.
GoPro is launching the Hero 9 Black today where you can purchase it with a one-year GoPro subscription.
