CES 2015: Samsung’s Ativ Book 9 is thinner than a MacBook Air

January 5, 2015

Light as a feather, stiff as a board..

We’ve already heard rumors about Apple planning to make a larger-screen iPad or even a 12-inch MacBook Air but the company has yet to make an announcement on it. With the evolution of ultraportable arriving with designs that feature none of the noisy fans, it seems Samsung has beat Apple in making the latest ultraportable.

The Samsung Ativ Book 9 is the company’s latest 12.2-inch notebook that utilizes Intel’s latest energy-efficient Core M processor. Inside, it camps a 2560 x 1600 pixel in a 12.2-inch screen – – virtually eliminating all pixels. It also comes with your choice of either 4 or 8 GB of RAM, a 128 GB or 256 GB SSD, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi and 10.5 hours of battery life.

At 11.8 mm, the Samusng Ativ Book is a slightly thinner than the MacBook Air but at only 950 grams, it’s incredibly light. It will run Windows 8.1 and the base model will start selling at $1,199.
