January 4, 2015

New TVs will run on the Tizen operating system.

It seems TVs are going to be even smarter this year. With LG giving full support for WebOS on its Smart TVs, Samsung is also embracing a new platform for its next line of TVs which will now run on the Tizen operating system.

Dubbed as the ‘most seductive TV of all time’ (I hope that wording won’t get it banned here in the Middle East), the new line of Smart TVs will feature the now common curved design and will come with a default UHD (Ultra High Definition) screen resolution.

Tizen, which is based on the Linux operating system, will revolutionize how people use their smart TVs. For example, you can easily browse game scores and other statistics while watching your favorite game on the TV. Additionally, the new TVs are compatible with Sony’s PlayStation Now service which lets you rent and stream games without the need of a console.

We’ll bring you more details about Samsung’s new Smart TVs once it is officially announced in a couple of days at CES 2015.
