CES 2015: Sony’s bringing back the Walkman

January 4, 2015

For a new generation of music lovers.

The Walkman was one of the iconic music players ever released, much like the Apple iPod, it became a cool thing in the late 80’s – early 90’s if you had one. But since the rise in popularity of smartphones that basically now do anything, the Walkman became obsolete. Sony releases a few models here and there, but it didn’t become quite as popular as it was back then.

As CES 2015 draws near, it seems that Sony will be introducing another Walkman product when the show opens in a couple of days. Sources say that the product may be an evolution of the current line of digital Walkman players (pictured above) that Sony is currently selling.

Other sources say the new Walkmans will follow the design concept of the Xperia smartphones, with the curved sides and probably a touch-screen based interface (which seems to be also running on Android). Stay tuned for the announcement of the these new Sony Walkmans as CES 2015 commences in Las Vegas on January 6th, 2015.
