Disney is looking to release its own streaming service in 2019
August 9, 2017

Is Netflix doomed?

Looks like will soon join the ranks of Netflix and Amazon as they prepare to launch their own streaming service in 2019. In the US, Netflix has an exclusive partnership with Disney, allowing them to stream most of their content, including the ones from Lucasfilm, Pixar and Marvel. In the UAE and other Middle Easter territories, Disney’s content is exclusively available for streaming on Starz Play Arabia.

Netflix’s deal with Disney finishes in 2019 – and it is expected that they will be launching their own streaming service right after that. Aside from the usual slate of Disney movies along with all movies under its umbrella, Disney’s streaming service will also include content from the Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney X D films.

It is likely that Disney will launch the service initially in the US and could slowly expand to other countries. It’s a definite win for Disney considering all the content that they own, but that would mean users will pay more to subscribe to all the services.
