A gadget that was created with the musically inclined in mind, the Melomind headset, which was featured at the CES 2015, is a mood-altering masterpiece.
Designed for those types who often find themselves needing respite because their brains are working overtime, the Melomind looks like a space-age headband of sorts.
It has 4 electrodes ballooning out of each side, which when placed on your melon, tap into your cranium to scan your brainwaves. Then, based on an analysis of the collected data, the headset digs in and sources an appropriate melody from a pool of customized musical tones, to transcend feelings of relaxation or even distraction, depending on your mindset. In this way it manages to effectively channel the noise in your head, so that those repetitive thoughts are nulled out and transformed into music to your ears.
Functioning very similarly to what you call an electroencephalogram or EEG for short, the headset transmits data via Bluetooth to an app available on either an Andorid, iOS or Windows Phone. Needless to say, a smartphone should be at the ready in order to fully operate the device.
The app provides the extra benefit of allowing you to gauge the level of relaxation you’re achieving by generating a graph. We should expect release to happen in the latter part of 2015. Pre-orders are also available via www.melomind.com.
