This drone flew over a volcano and captured this amazing footage

Flying through Iceland’s Fagradalsfjall volcano.

Iceland’s Fagradalsfjall volcano had begun erupting for the first time in 800 years, but thankfully the eruption was small enough to not put anyone in danger. But for drone pilot Bjorn Steinbekk,  this was an opportunity to use his drone and shoot footage of the erupting volcano. It’s certainly dangerous – especially for the drone, but the footage that was captured was nothing short of amazing.

Looking at the footage, you can see the glowing red magma that’s flowing out of the volcano’s crater, where the drone flew right into. The video went viral on Twitter, and showcased his skills as a drone pilot – it wasn’t made clear if the drone survived.

Fagradalsfjall volcano’s eruption was considered minor since the lava that expelled from the crater was less than 1 square kilometer in size. The volcano is located 40 kilometers west of Reykjavik.
