Dropbox shutting down its Mailbox and Carousel apps

December 8, 2015

Mailbox was acquired by Dropbox in 2013.

Mailbox was easily one of the best email apps available on the iPhone and was even ported to OS X a few months back. But two years Dropbox acquired the company, they’re shutting down the service to focus on creating better experiences to users.

Dropbox is also shutting down and discontinuing its Carousel app. The app, which lets users view all their photos and videos in an easy to use gallery, was introduced earlier this year.

“To our Carousel and Mailbox users, thank you for embracing these products—and we’re sorry. It’s not easy to say goodbye to products we all love. But ultimately, we think this increased focus will help us create even better experiences for you in the months and years to come,” the company said in a blog post.

Mailbox will be shut down on February 26th, 2016, and Carousel will be shut down on March 31st, 2016.
