Dubai’s Sky Pod project is the future of transportation
December 6, 2018

The project was unveiled by the RTA.

Forget the flying taxis or even Hyperloops, here comes the Unibike. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has just unveiled a new futuristic mobility project called Sky Pod that is now said to consume less power than existing electric vehicles.

Unibike is the first project under Sky Pod, which is a lightweight vehicle that runs on suspended rails using wheels made of steel. One unit can fit up to five people and can reach a maximum of 150 kph. Another model introduced is the Unicar, which can take passengers for longer distances (think about 200 km). It can sit up to six riders and can also reach a maximum speed of 150 kph.

While the project does give a glimpse as to how the future of transportation will be, RTA didn’t reveal when we could see it on Dubai’s roads – or if it will be launched at all. Though I won’t be surprised if it actually launches in the city.
