Ford Motor Company has opted to provide its corporate employees with iPhones rather than BlackBerries.
According to Bloomberg, by the end of this year, around 3,300 Ford employees worldwide will be receiving iPhones rather than BlackBerry smartphones.
An additional 6,000 employees are estimated to be receiving an iPhone, too, by 2016.
A mobile tech analyst will also be hired by Ford to oversee the deployment of the iPhones across Ford institutions around the world.
Ford stated that it will be distributing the iPhones to meet the needs of its employees, both on a personal and on a professional level.
In response to Ford’s decision, BlackBerry answered back saying that it understands each company in the market has its own preferences, and went on to say that corporations should nonetheless rethink working with other phone companies that don’t offer the same security advantages offered constantly by BlackBerry.
Although recent reports about IBM adding on some iOS enterprise services have emerged, Ford stated that it will not be overtaking any extra costs for personalizing iOS services.
