From a flip phone to a tough phone, Nokia’s got it all

HMD Global introduces new Nokia smartphones made for every market segment.


Nokia has officially unveiled its new line of smartphones that are scheduled to be released in the next couple of months. These new smartphones cater to every market segment which it aims to cover, resulting in a smartphone line that would suit any user and budget.

HMD Global says this is just the start as they’ve laid out Nokia’s plan for the future, where it has invested in various fields to enhance the feature set of each Nokia device in terms of imaging, design, and security. Nokia also confirmed that 5G-capable smartphones are scheduled to arrive in 2020.

A total of five devices were announced, this includes two new feature smartphones, the Nokia 7.2 and the Nokia 6.2 which is then followed by the Nokia 800 Tough, the Nokia 2720 Flip and the Nokia 110.

The Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 are feature-filled smartphones that also belong to the Android one platform, meaning that you’ll get the latest security patches and updates faster than other third-party manufacturers. In fact, Nokia has topped the list the sole manufacturer that had most of its smartphone line running the latest Android operating system.

The Nokia 7.2 features a 48-megapixel camera with Quad Pixel technology and ZEISS Optics. They’ve also showcased how the camera software gives you more option when shooting images, all part of the camera app on the Nokia 7.2. All-day battery life and a PureDisplay technology round up the features of the smartphone. The Nokia 7.2 will come in Cyan Green, Charcoal and Ice with 4 GB/64 GB and 6 GB/64 GB configurations, priced at 299 and 349 Euros respectively and will release later this month.

The triple-camera-equipped Nokia 6.2 also features a PureDisplay technology with always-on HDR. There’s a seamless finish that runs through the device’s body, and the camera can also take different modes from wide-angle to portrait. The Nokia 6.2 will come in Ceramic Black and Ice with 3 GB/32 GB and 4 GB/ 64 GB configurations retailing at 199 and 249 Euros respectively and will release next month.

A first for the smartphone line, the Nokia 800 Tough is the first rugged Nokia device. It’s IP68 rated, meaning that its waterproof, dustproof and shockproof. It can even withstand extreme temperatures which should be ideal for users who work in extreme environments. The Nokia 800 Tough will come in colors of Black Steel and Desert Sand, releasing early next month at 109 Euros.

The popular flip phone is back with the Nokia 2720 Flip. It has dual screens with a dedicated button for Google Assistant. The look may feel retro, but inside there’s 4G connectivity and support for apps like Facebook and WhatsApp. The Nokia 2720 Flip will come in Ocean Blue, Black, and Pink, releasing later this month for 89 Euros.

The Nokia 110, on the other hand, is as simple as it gets – think of it as an advanced MP3 player. It has an FM Radio and even has the classic game Snake pre-loaded. It will release this month with a global price of $20.

Also announced is the Nokia True Wireless Earbuds, the bring 150 hours of usage when used with the charging case. It has an IPX7 rating with support for Bluetooth 5.0 and pairs easily with any Nokia smartphone with Google Assistant also present. It will cost 79 Euros and will release next month.
