From the magnificent Find N to Oppo Air Glass, there was much to love about OPPO INNO DAY 2021!

We expected nothing less than groundbreaking tech at OPPO Inno Day 2021, and we came away much satisfied indeed. At OPPO Inno Day, OPPO showcased three products, including the Find N foldable featuring a landscape ratio display and almost no visible minimal crease, the MariSilicon X 6nm Cutting-edge Imaging NPU and an nnovative aR (assisted reality) device in the OPPO Air Glass.


Among the standout innovations was OPPO’s first foldable flagship smartphone, the OPPO Find N, a result of four years of research and development and six generations of prototypes, the OPPO Find N brings a new approach to the foldable form factor and offers a refreshed user experience both for people who have used foldable devices in the past, as well as users who are new to the foldable form factor. For the first time in a foldable smartphone, the OPPO Find N uses a landscape ratio for the inner display, striking a better balance for users to seamlessly switch between an immersive 7.1-inch inner display and a 5.49-inch outer display that offers a full smartphone experience with no compromise on size or usability. With an 8.4:9 aspect ratio, the inner display unfolds directly into landscape mode so users can watch videos, play games or read books without the extra step of rotating the device. When folded, the 18:9 aspect ratio gives users a full, familiar smartphone experience with a display that is easy to use with one hand.
The Flexion Hinge on the OPPO Find N brings together 136 components with extreme precision of up to 0.01 mm, ensuring the hinge works as smoothly as the joints in the human body. OPPO’s unique water-drop hinge design solves some of the biggest pain points in foldable devices by widening the angle of the fold in the display and offering a buffer when the display folds, resulting in a minimal crease that is up to 80% less noticeable compared with other devices, according to TUV. This design also practically eliminates the gap between displays when folded, offering a more integrated look and better protecting the inner display from scratches.
OPPO’s custom 12-layer Serene Display offers excellent protection and durability and works with the Flexion Hinge for a smooth foldable experience. The display includes a 0.03 mm layer of Flexion UTG (ultra-thin glass), compared to 0.6 mm for regular smartphone glass, allowing it to easily bend while providing strong durability. The Serene Display is also very reliable, with the ability to be folded over 200,000 times while still maintaining an overall smooth folding experience with next to no crease, as verified by TUV.
The inner screen uses an LTPO display with smart dynamic refresh rate technology that adapts the refresh rate anywhere between 1-120 Hz based on the content you are watching. The inner display also features support for a touch sampling rate of up to 1,000 Hz. OPPO has fine-tuned both the brightness and color calibration between the inner and outer displays to ensure a consistently smooth experience for users. Both screens provide 10,240 automatic brightness levels, ensuring user comfort in all kinds of complex lighting environments, with a peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits.

In addition, OPPO unveiled the OPPO Air Glass, the groundbreaking aR (assisted reality) device equipped with OPPO’s self-developed Spark Micro Projector, cutting-edge Micro LED, and a bespoke diffraction optical waveguide display supporting four different user interactions through touch, voice, head movement, and hand motion, allowing users to obtain the information they need more conveniently, and more quickly.
OPPO Air Glass is built around a groundbreaking monocle waveguide design. Based on OPPO’s distinctive design philosophy, Air Glass features free-flowing curves that give rise to its lightweight, minimalist appearance. With a total weight of approximately 30g, OPPO Air Glass is one of the lightest monocle waveguide devices in the industry and can be worn much like a pair of regular glasses.
At the heart of OPPO Air Glass’ display system is OPPO’s self-developed Spark Micro Projector — the most compact projection system in the industry at just 0.5cc, or roughly the size of a single coffee bean. The projector features a CNC machining metal enclosure with a glass lens module to provide better heat dissipation and stability. This is powered by a cutting-edge Micro LED, which generates up to 3 million nits brightness. OPPO Air Glass adopts a bespoke optical diffraction waveguide, supporting two display modes — 16-level grayscale and 256-level gray scale — and can deliver up to 1400 nits in average brightness, ensuring a vivid and sharp visual display in different lighting conditions. Additionally, two layers of sapphire glass are used to encase the waveguide on both sides, providing protection with improved transparency.

Finally, OPPO announced its first self-designed cutting-edge Imaging NPU — MariSilicon X. Built on 6nm process technology, MariSilicon X combines an advanced NPU, ISP, and Multi-tier Memory Architecture to deliver incredible performance with incomparable power efficiency, which makes lossless RAW domain processing possible to capture stunning 4K AI Night Video with live previews. MariSilicon X will make its debut in Q1 2022 on the Find X Series.
MariSilicon X’s NPU delivers an unstoppable 18 trillion operations per second (TOPS), more than enough computing power to support our AI algorithms. With an incredible 11.6 TOPS per watt power efficiency, it also delivers top-end performance without draining battery.
The NPU features a groundbreaking dedicated Tera bps memory subsystem, which allows MariSilicon X to make full use of the NPU’s computing power without being restricted by memory throughout, significantly reducing the time needed to copy data back and forth between storage and processing units.
MariSilicon X also includes dedicated DDR with extra bandwidth of up to 8.5 GB/s. Its multi-tier memory architecture greatly minimizes delays and reduces power consumption caused by unnecessary repeated read-write cycles.
When running OPPO’s AI noise reduction algorithm, MariSilicon X can achieve up to 20x faster performance compared with OPPO Find X3 Pro. MariSilicon X can capture 4K AI Night Videos by performing complex brightness enhancements to each frame in real-time.
OPPO INNO DAY 2021 drew worldwide attendees through its online OPPO INNO WORLD, product showcase in Dubai, UAE and event in Shenzhen, China. Visitors of OPPO INNO WORLD joined the launch remotely with their customized avatars using them to socialize and invite each other to hunt for the hidden easter eggs scattered in the virtual world
