July 13, 2015

Nintendo president passed away at the age of 55.

One of the most prominent personalities in the video game industry, Satoru Iwata, passed away at the age of 55 from complications from a bile duct growth. Iwata worked as game developer for HAL Laboratory before being Nintendo’s president in 2002.

In his office the company saw major success with the launch of the Nintendo DS and Wii consoles. He opposed the calls to have Nintendo cancel making hardware and consider going into the mobile or smartphone gaming market.

A true legend and definitely a person that will never be forgotten, Satoru Iwata will live on the minds and hearts of gamers everywhere.
