Your move, PlayStation.
Microsoft’s Xbox Series X already has the best hardware on paper and while you feel that games running on it have already reached their potential, it’s about to get even better. Yesterday, AMD has just announced the FidelityFX a new AI-powered software that will be able to offer enhancements for games.
Developers can tap into more graphics settings that include Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS), Variable Shading, and our raytraced shadow Denoiser, and more. This toolkit will let developers use high-quality visual effects not just for Xbox titles, but also for PC games. It allows graphics to be improved without compromising the performance.
Since FidelityFX has just been released to developers, it may take a while before we get to see games that would take advantage of the new features and if they decide to implement it on their own games.
At the moment, FidelityFX is only available for the Xbox Seris X|S consoles and there is no word if it will be available for the PS5. Considering that these next-generation gaming consoles use AMD-based hardware (both consoles use a Zen 2-based CPU and an RDNA 2 GPU) we wouldn’t be surprised if Sony’s own console also gets to utilise FidelityFX’s new features.
