Microsoft Flight Simulator will arrive on a 10-DVD set

July 16, 2020

If you want to own a physical copy.

Microsoft is officially launching a new version of its famed Flight Simulator for PC on August 18th. Available in three editions (standard, deluxe, and premium deluxe), the game will range from $59.99 to $119.99. The simulator is a fan favorite, giving players a near-perfect recreation on how to fly a real plane. It will also include a multiplayer mode that will come with real-life air traffic for a more realistic feel.

Seeing as the game will take around 100GB of space, Microsoft Flight SImulator can only be downloaded especially since internet connections can now handle faster bandwidths. But what if you want to play the game and you still stay in a location with a spotty internet connection? Buying the game in a physical format may be the only way.

In Europe, Aerosoft made a deal with Microsoft to distribute the game in the region. But as you can see from the packaging above, the game will come in a whopping 10-DVD set. Since each disc is dual-layered, that will amount to almost 90GB – 100GB of data that includes all assets needed for the game so you don’t have to download anything.

While there is an option to put the game on a Blu-ray disc, PC drives that can read aren’t widely used despite the media being popular on home theaters. Putting it on a DVD makes it more accessible.

Microsoft Flight Simulator will be available for Windows 10 users and will come as part of the Game Pass for PC if you’re a subscriber.
