Sony announces September 16th event for PlayStation 5
September 13, 2020

We may finally know how much it would cost.

Just yesterday, Sony tweeted that a PS5 Games Showcase will be happening on September 15th at 1 pm PDT (that’s 12 midnight for us in the UAE). The 40-minute showcase is said to be only focused on games, highlighting the upcoming first and third-party titles launching with the console.

Of course, the elephant in the room here is that Sony has yet to announce how much the PlayStation 5 will cost, considering that Microsoft has already revealed the prices for the Xbox Series X (2,149 AED) and the Xbox Series S (1,249 AED) last week along with a November 10th release date.

At the moment, we only know that the PlayStation 5 will come in two editions: a digital-only edition without an optical drive and a standard edition with a 4K Blu-ray drive. Like the Xbox Series X/S, the PlayStation 5 is due to be released sometime in November.
