It’s more than just a graphical upgrade.
Insomniac Games has revealed more details about the upcoming Spider-Man: Remastered that’s coming exclusively on the PS5 this November. Spider-Man: Remastered comes as a next-gen console title that will accompany Spider-Man: Miles Morales, part of the Ultimate Edition bundle that will be sold in November when the PS5 releases.
Insomniac Games said that Spider-Man: Remastered takes advantage of the new hardware on the PS5 to deliver stunning visuals along with three new suits that you can add to your collection. “The team has done the painstaking work of updating the city’s environment to take advantage of the new console. Beyond improved models and materials, one of the biggest things we have brought to the game is ray-traced reflections and ambient shadows. We now have true reflections on the windows of buildings, and it looks stunning with our new skies and weather,” the company said in a blog post.
Additionally, each character now has more realistic renders – from their skin, eye, teeth, and even each strand of hair. But there’s one change that somewhat dividing fans – Insomniac has decided to recast the face of Peter Parker. In the original 2018 game, Peter Parker was played by John Bubniak, but on the remaster, it is now played by Ben Jordan. Many expressed their opinions online with the change, but it looks like we may have to play the game as it is.
Spider-Man: Remastered will also include Performance Mode, which will let you play the game in glorious 60fps. Along with that, the game will also have a near-instant loading time, Spatial 3D Audio for compatible headphones, and support for the new DualSense controller.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Spider-Man: Remastered will release on November 12th, 2020. The PlayStation 5 goes on sale on November 12th in select countries and November 19th everywhere else.
