Glow: The Smart Headphone

January 31, 2015

A headphone with lasers that surely turn heads.

Headphones aren’t usually the type of accessory you need to flaunt – unless they cost thousands of dirhams. But a Kickstarter aims to deliver the first ‘Smart Headphone’.

The Glow Headphone looks like normal headphone – but it uses a laser to diffuse light and show it to the entire length of the headphone wire, illuminating it. The idea behind is Fibrance, that allows very thin wires to be wrapped around the main headphone wire that delivers the ‘glow’ effect.

Aside from the awesome illuminated effect, the Glow Headphones will also have an embedded pulse oximeter to estimate your heart rate. In theory, your current pulse will match the pulsing effect on the headphone, along with the ability to sync with the beats on the music you are playing.

The Glow Headphones can glow for 8 hours after which you need to charge it using a microUSB cable. Even with the battery is out, you can still continue using the headphones like the normal one (but it will be boring without the glowing effect).

The headphones are initially made available for Android devices and if they get more funding, they can also start making an iOS version as well.

More information can be found on their Kickstarter page. Watch the video below and tell us what you think.
