Google Maps is about to get better!

July 26, 2014

They’re launching a new ‘Explore’ feature that points out interesting spots from your location.

Google just announced that it is rolling a new feature in Google Maps that would add a new ‘Explore’ feature on the app made for iOS and Android. It’s basically a feature that will let you see interesting spots around your location, along with user reviews for that particular establishment. Google also mentioned that the results will be different every time you access the explore feature – since it will take note of certain factors such as day, time and the weather to see if you can visit that particular place at that time – how cool is that?

Google also added the feature leans from you, checking all the places you always frequent on and then from there conjure a list of places worth recommending. This comes off the recent announcement of Foursquare that it will be changing its own app to something that will recommend places based on your interests and recent check-ins.

Google Maps has always been a favorite app of mine (especially when it got support for offline map viewing) and if the Explore feature proves to be a hit, it will definitely have a permanent place in my smartphone.
