Google Maps now lets you see your location history

Location tracking on mobile devices is now a norm, but most people do not even know it is turned on by default. This means that apps can keep a record of where you have been – and somehow Google Maps has turned that information into a new feature called Your Timeline.

As part of an update to the Google Maps app, Your Timeline will let you check on the places that you have been, this includes a map of where you went to on a specific day. Google actually had this feature before in the form Google’s location history. Your Timeline just presents it in a more interactive way.

If you’re concerned about privacy, location history is optional and can be turned off. Additionally, only you can see your location history and you can always delete it using the ‘delete all location history’ function.

The feature is slowly being rolled out to Android and desktop device and should make it to iOS users soon.
