Will most likely power the next-generation Android smartphones.
During the 3rd annual Snapdragon Tech Summit, Qualcomm has already revealed the new Snapdragon 855 chips which is likely to power next year’s wave of Android devices.
One particular feature of the Snapdragon 855 chip is support for multi-gigabit 5G, which is already gaining momentum as the next standard in data connectivity. Of course, there’s also AI, which seems to be present in nearly every company-made chip out there. Additional features include better battery management and a new multi-core AI engine that’s three times faster than the Snapdragon 845.
While not specifically explained, the Snapdragon 855 will also have computational photography to enable better-looking images along with improved support for augmented reality.
More details about the Snapdragon 855 should be revealed in the next few days, but seeing as how powerful this new chip is, we won’t be surprised if it will be the primary processor running on almost all of the Android flagships in 2019.
