Charge up your device faster than ever.
With Oppo and other companies showcasing lightning-fast charging tech, Qualcomm has also introduced an update to its own Quick Charging 5 (QC 5) technology. They claim that a smartphone with a 4,500 mAh battery can be charged from 0 to 50 percent just in 5 minutes along with fully charging the battery to 100 percent in just 15 minutes.
Qualcomm said that the technology will be part of the Snapdragon 865/865+ and future chipsets. It was said that QC 5 will also support 100W chargers. Xiaomi is one of the first companies to offer support for QC 5, which will be appearing on the company’s future devices.
Additionally, it was said that the QC 5 is now four times faster than QC 4, but despite the faster charging time, Qualcomm said that they’ve managed to cool down the battery by 10 degrees so you don’t have to worry about overheating.
Oppo has also announced its own SuperVooc quick charging technology that runs at 125W. While many companies are offering various fast-charging options, there is still a concern about how batteries can handle it. Reports said that fast charging technologies degrade the health of batteries faster, so we may have to wait and see how economical and safe these new technologies are.
