Western Digital redefines next-gen gaming with new WD_BLACK products

Introducing three new SSDs made for gaming.

Western Digital has just unveiled three new products as part of its WD_BLACK portfolio of storage solutions made for gaming. The new SDDs feature the first NVMe with PCIe Gen4 technology, a bootable Gen3 x8 add-in-card, and a Thunderbolt 3-powered NVMe SSD gaming dock.

“As game developers move towards creating immersive titles that require higher performance, consumers need to equip themselves with the best tools to stay up-to-speed,” said Jim Welsh, senior vice president, Consumer Solutions, Western Digital. “Innovative, high-performance storage solutions are essential to keep up with this ever-changing landscape. Our latest WD_BLACK products have been purpose-built to allow gamers to meet the increasingly high standards of future games and gaming platforms. We’ve optimized these products to not only provide more storage for gamers but to elevate the gaming experience as a whole.”

WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD – Featuring read/write speeds of up to 7000/5300MB/s for the 1TB model, the SN850 features a WD_BLACK G2 controller and is optimized for high-intensive gaming. It helps reduce game load times and completes file transfers in just seconds. An optional RGB-enabled heatsink will also be available for those who make it extra flashy. The SN850 will be available from next month at the following prices:

  • 500GB without heatsink: 515 AED
  • 500GB with heatsink: 589 AED
  • 1TB without heatsink: 955 AED
  • 1TB with heatsink: 1,029 AED
  • 2TB without heatsink: 1,765 AED
  • 2TB with heatsink: 1,839 AED

WD_BLACK AN1500 NVMe SSD Add-in-Card – Ths is a bootable plug and play add-in card that is one of the fastest PCIe Gen3 x8 solutions available. It is powered by two internal SSDs in RAID 0 and PCIe Gen3 x8 technology and can reach speeds of up to 6500 MB/s for read and 4100 MB/s for write. It even includes a customizable RGB lighting along with an integrated heatsink that can help maintain peak performance. The AN1500 will be available starting next month and will cost:

  • 1TB: 1,100 AED
  • 2TB: 2,019 AED
  • 4TB: 3,675 AED

WD_BLACK D50 Game Dock NVMe SSD – This high-performance gaming dock SSD can transform a laptop into an integrated gaming station. Powered by a single Thunderbolt 3 cable, it houses more storage for your games and multiple ports for your accessories. It also comes with RGB lighting that can be configured through the WD_BLACK Dashboard (Only for Windows). It will also be available starting next month with the following prices:

  • 1TB for 1,839 AED
  • 2TB for 2,400 AED
