Facebook is reportedly talking with major Hollywood studios about creating content for the virtual reality device.
Movies have come a long way since the days of silent films in the 1920s. We are in the age where cinemas offer various forms of entertainment: from IMAX screens, to 3D and even 4DX – it seems the evolution of the way we see movies is not going to stop.
With Facebook’s $2 billion acquisition of Oculus Rift, the company is now looking into making Hollywood-style productions that can be viewed on the VR headwear. In a report by The Next Web, Facebook is stating that the main goal is to not limit the device to games and it has been approaching prominent directors and media companies to develop a film that could take advantage of the device’s capabilities.
Seeing that as a possibility in the future, I’d love to have a first person experience of my favorite movies. Maybe play as Ripley fighting the Alien queen in Aliens, or maybe experience how it is being chased by a T-Rex in Jurassic Park.
What about you? What type of movie you would like to experience on the Oculus Rift? Share us your thoughts!
