A vulnerability has been found on the app.
Most Android users have been emailed by Twitter informing them to update to the latest version of the app as soon as possible. This is patch a recent security issue that could compromise user accounts and while Twitter said that the vulnerability has been fixed weeks ago, it is telling users to update to avoid any problems.
As detailed in a recent blog post, Twitter said that the vulnerability “…could allow a bad actor to see nonpublic account information or to control your account (i.e., send Tweets or Direct Messages).” It did say that it didn’t see any evidence of a breach but has taken steps to make sure it doesn’t happen in the future.
If you’re an Android user, make sure to check the Google Play Store for the latest version to be installed. It is known that Twitter has patched its app made for older and newer Android operating systems. As for iOS users, the company has confirmed that the issue does not exist for Twitter for iOS.
