For gadget geeks in the UAE, the Tech Fashion Show occupies a special place. Over the years Shift Electronics (shift.ae) have put on quite a show, with a vastly evolving showcase of devices.

The 4th edition of Tech Fashion Show decided to take a few steps high. So what did we have? Think thermoelectric smart watches that charge merely by coming in contact with skin, airpod case mania, art meeting wireless connectivity, Black Ops iPhone Cases and much much more. Over 3 levels of industrially designed space overlooking Sheikh Zayed Road, here are the highlights of the Tech Fashion Show 2019…

StayGo USB-C Hub

It’s rightly positioned as the first desktop-friendly USB-C hub. This device goes all out on the connectivity front, but crucially with a setup long enough to neatly tuck away and keep the front of your workspace clean and tidy. The included 6”  travel cable stores inside the hub, and ignoring ‘trends’ in a wireless world, this hub has ethernet and SD slots for creative professionals.

Element Case Black Ops Elite

There are few iPhone cases that make ypu really go weak in the knees, but this Black Ops case for the iPhone 11 Pro are a different league altogether,. Military grade toughness and in the nature of the forces, very easy to disassemble. STM CEO Ethan Nyholm took us through the AR functionality that enabled us one to go virtually through different products in the line including opening up their tough cases et al.

Tepper strap for AirPods

Really have to wonder why no one thought of it before. All the way from Sweden, this leather strap with brass details helps you protect your AirPod. Not just that, the magnetic lock snaps in the AirpPods together as well. Available in regular leather and silver and gold finishes, they have a leather case coming up that should be intriguing.

Manu Qube

Beautifully realised, the key theme here is a wireless charging device that can charge your tech and be beautiful at the same time; the best of both worlds. Fusing the power of a wireless charger and a battery pack the Manu Cube consists of a base, the wireless charger, and a top, a wireless charger and powerbank in one.

Journal CaddySack

Think of it as the perfectly classy leather tote for all your accessories, Open up Journal and you find a collection of elastic bands, Velcro straps and a pocket designed to neatly hold your go-to accessories. Beautifully classy, and much recommended for the regular flyer.

Case Mate

Airpod cases are seemingly the next in thing on the accessory front, as this company showcased, with some intriguingingly creativecases being on show

Powerwatch 2

Now this device takes the statement Move to the Beat of Your Own Hear rather literally. This is the world’s most powerful smartwatch you never have to charge. Advanced thermoelectric and solar technology converts your body heat and ambient light to power itself, plus the device has new features such as heart rate monitoring, GPS location tracking, and a color display.

Zens Liberty Wireless Charger

Have you ever accidently misplaced your phone on a wireless charger and consequently woken up with a phone that has an almost empty battery? Zens decided to solve this problem by launching the Liberty; a wireless charger with 16 overlapping charging coils. The 16 coils will give complete freedom of placement, allowing you to place two devices anywhere on the charging pad. Any device that supports Qi wireless charging can be recharged anywhere on the charging pad. Its 2.4A built-in USB-port allows charging an additional device.

Ever wondered what’s ‘under the hood’? The Zens Liberty Glass limited edition [shown above] has a glass see-through surface to reveal the inside of the wireless charger. You will be able to see the 16 charging coils seamlessly working together to make sure your devices regain their power quickly.

Asobu

This is a brand that’s known for their study stainless steel insulated bottle. With Asobu Wireless, they decided to incorporate wireless music to the experience. The lid turns out to be a speaker, while deep down its a reliable flask. Well done.

GPO Brooklyn

From push button and rotary dial telephones and cassette players to vinyl players, this brand showed off its retro credentials, with 80’s boomboxes being a key highlight.
