Did you use Instagram Direct?
Instagram has announced that it’s messaging app Direct will be shut down – though some didn’t even realize it existed which may be the reason why it is being discontinued. Direct was a standalone app that uses Instagram as a way for you to send direct messages to people on the platform.
Users who have downloaded the app reported seeing a message confirming that Direct will no longer be supported next month. It noted though that whatever messages they have on Direct will instantly be ported on the native Instagram app.

Direct has launched two years ago as a primary competition to Snapchat, where you can immediately take videos and images and apply filters to send to your friends. It was launched in only a handful of countries, though a global rollout never really happened.
To be honest, I’ve asked around if anyone knew the app and almost all of them had never even heard of it. At the moment, Instagram is now one of the top social media networks along with Facebook, who also own it.
