iPhone 12 rumor roundup: ProMotion display and a smaller notch
May 11, 2020

The new iPhone could be announced this September.

As the rumor mill starts getting leaks and tips about the new iPhone, we’re getting reports that the next iPhone could feature a significant upgrade compared to previous models. Expected to be called the iPhone 12 (along with an accompanying iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max model), reports said that the new smartphones could feature a ProMotion display. ProMotion is the term for the 120Hz display that came with the iPad Pros. However, the ProMotion feature is likely to be only included with the Pro models.

Another is the design – while there is no evidence as to how the next iPhone will look like, it might take a design aspect from the current iPad Pros, which will have a more squared-off edge similar to the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5. The camera will likely get an upgrade, which could probably include the LiDAR scanner that was first introduced in this year’s iPad Pro.

There is also word on a new Face ID module that is coming on the new iPhone. It should sport smaller components, meaning that the notch that appeared on the iPhone X, iPhone XS, and the iPhone 11 should now be smaller.

Apple, of course, won’t confirm or deny this, and we will only get to know about the new devices once it gets officially announced this September.
