If you have a spare $150,000 lying around.
Martin Aircraft just announced that you can now purchase your very own jetpack in the second half of 2016 – and it will cost you $150,000. The jetpack was in development for nearly four decades and can offer a maximum flight time of about 30 minutes along with a top speed of about 72 km/hr.
Martin Aircraft also mentioned that the jetpack can reach an altitude of up to 1000 meters. A report by our friends at T3 UK published a statement from Martin Aircraft saying, “The Martin Jetpack is a disruptive technology, much like the helicopter was when first developed, with substantial capabilities, and is able to be flown by a pilot or via remote control. The jetpack can take off and land vertically (VTOL) and because of its small dimensions, it can operate in confined spaces such as close to or between buildings, near trees or in confined areas that other VTOL aircraft such as helicopters cannot access.”
A V2 2.0L engine is used to power two fans that will lift up the person wearing the jetpack. Good thing is that it can run on regular petrol – meaning you can probably start lining up at Emarat or Enoc stations to fill up your jetpack. And just in case the inevitable happens, there is a parachute that should take you back down safely.
Here’s hoping we can get a product review for this thing soon
