Kodak goes retro with its new smartphone

October 23, 2016

Meet the Kodak Ektra.

Kodak may not be the first company you might think of in terms of smartphones, but it is currently reinventing itself as a prominent imaging company with its focus on more digital cameras. But its new Ektra is one of their first smartphones.

But the Kodak Ektra is more camera than smartphone – not that we haven’t seen that before. Design-wise, the Ektra features a leather material covering its exterior, along with a 21 megapixel sensor found on the back, complete with steel-rimmed lens.

The Ektra matches the specifications of most premium devices. It is powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor along with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and a 3000 mAh battery. It also runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

As a camera-centric smartphone, the Kodak Ektra will come pre-loaded with image editing suites like Lightroom and VSCO.

The device will initially be available in Europe this December. No word on pricing at the moment.

You can visit the Kodak Ektra website for more information.
