Also known as the ‘PS4.5’.
It looks like Sony is prepping to announce its upcoming PlayStation 4 ‘Net’ console by next months if the rumors prove to be true. This is following reports last June, which has been fueled by numerous leaks.
While no details were given except the likelihood of a September announcement, the new Neo console won’t exactly be an upgrade to the current PlayStation 4, which already runs on excellent hardware.
Just like the recently released Xbox One S, the Neo’s main feature is 4K HDR support and playback, meaning that it can drive an output resolution of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels. That’s mostly for videos though, 4K gaming isn’t entirely supported (and will need more power evidently). Still, the minor upgrades will also make it even more compatible with the upcoming PlayStation VR that’s scheduled to launch this October.
While we aren’t expecting any changes on the design, it is also likely that it will feature a smaller build compared to the original PlayStation 4.
