Lucasfilm announces new VR film about Darth Vader

The movie will be written by David S. Goyer.

At the Star Wars Celebration held in London, xLab announced that it will be producing a new virtual reality movie starting Darth Vader. xLab is the virtual reality unit for Industrial Light & Magic, who is responsible for the visual effects you’ve seen on all the Star Wars movies.

It was also revealed that David S. Goyer, who wrote Batman Begins and Man of Steel, will be working on the movie. No other details were revealed, but the project will be an entirely original story and will somehow fit into the official series canon.

“You are the visitor in this story that is happening in and around you, and to a certain extent you might even have some effect on. You can pick up things, you can open things. You can push things, you can walk. You can touch characters,” Goyer said in an interview published by The Verge.

We all know how awesome Star Wars is, but seeing it in VR with the focus on Darth Vader certainly does gets all pumped.
