Microsoft’s new browser is now called ‘Edge’

April 30, 2015

I still think Project Spartan is cool.

When Microsoft revealed its plans to revamp its Internet Explorer browser, it gave it the name Project Spartan, and it will come pre-installed on Windows 10. Now Microsoft is announcing that the new browser will be named ‘Edge’.

With Microsoft saying that the idea behind the name is “being on the edge of consuming and creating”, the company also added that the name refers to the “Developer notion of being closest to the modern capabilities of the web.”

Features that were already introduced on the Microsoft Edge include reading mode, notate support along with Cortana (Microsoft’s digital assistant) helping you with your browsing needs. Additionally, Microsoft Edge will be supporting Chrome and Firefox extensions.
