Microsoft’s new keyboards will have dedicated Emoji keys
October 14, 2019

Because a 😊 is better than a :-).

If you’re planning to buy a new non-gaming keyboard, you might want to consider Microsoft’s new line of input devices that now come with extra keys that you might like (or not). Two keyboards have just been listed on Microsoft’s online store that comes with dedicated Office and Emoji keys.

The Office key is located on the right of the spacebar while the Emoji key sits right next to it. Pressing the Office key will open the Office for Windows 10 app, but it was mentioned on the website that you can assign any specific Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to open using a combination of keys. For example, pressing the Office key + W will open Word, etc.

As for the Emoji key, pressing it will open the Windows 10 emoji picker. You can’t assign any specific commands with the key though, but we’re thinking that maybe Emojis are so common nowadays that they’re worthy of placement on the physical keyboard. But hey since it’s there, might as well use it right?

Both the Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard and Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard are now available online.
