The first initiative of its kind in the world.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, yesterday launched the Dubai Cyber Index. This initiative will help support the Dubai government’s entities to make sure it adheres to the highest standard of cybersecurity. It also aims to make Dubai as the city with the safest cyberspace in the world.
Dubai Cyber Index will also create a strong foundation for a free, safe, and resilient online world for individuals and even organizations. The initiative is in line with the Dubai Cyber Security Strategy’s goal in protecting Dubai from a range of cybersecurity risks and helping support its economic growth. The Dubai Cyber Index also seeks to promote healthy competition between government entities in the field of cybersecurity.
The Index will also enhance the government’s readiness in dealing with scenarios relating to cyber-attacks. the Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC), who monitors all Information Technology requirements in government entities, will be setting up security operations centers and even use Artificial Intelligence technologies and Big Data analysis to know when a potential cyber attack may happen.
“Dubai continues to reinforce its leadership in the digital and cyber sector by consolidating the efforts of all government and private institutions and individuals to provide secure cyberspace. It also seeks to make Dubai the most electronically secure city in the world. The Index will measure the progress and readiness of the emirate’s government entities to assess cyber risks and deter threats,” said Major General Talal Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Chairman of the Dubai Electronic Security Center.
