That is like downloading a whole 4K movie in a blink of an eye.
If you’re looking for the fastest 5G network in the world, look no further as Etisalat managed to achieve 5G download speeds of a whopping 9.1 Gigabits per second. This was done by aggregating multiple commercial spectrum bands of n78(3.5GHz), n41(2.6GHz), and millimeter wave n258(26 GHz). A prototype 5G device that aggregates these bands was used for the test.
“We are pleased to announce that Etisalat UAE has achieved unprecedented 9.1 Gbps 5G network speed. This 5G ultra-wideband game-changing download speed is the fastest in the world. We at Etisalat always strive to meet the ever-increasing bandwidth demand from diverse needs of customers, businesses, automation, and gaming,” said Saeed Al Zarouni, Senior Vice President, Mobile Network, Etisalat.
“Today’s landmark announcement is a result of Etisalat’s efforts in building a robust 5G network, and 9.1 Gbps is truly a huge leap forward in the 5G era to offer a speed 30 times faster than a 4G average throughput. This will have a significant and profound change on individuals, industries, society, and the economy, transforming how we live and work.”
Etisalat led the way in bringing 5G across the UAE and the rest of the Middle East, where it was one of the first telecom providers to launch commercial 5G in the country in May of 2018. A year later, it offered one of the first 5G devices for customers so they can fully enjoy the power of 5G. They have also managed to become the first telecom provider in the MENA region to provide indoor 5G coverage in select buildings in the UAE.
Ookla, who is known for its popular Speedtest app, recently recognized Etisalat as one of the fastest mobile networks in the world, averaging a download speed of 115.89 Mbps.
