120 Hz 1440p screen: Meet the Oppo Find X2 Pro
March 8, 2020

Oppo’s latest flagship is now official.

Oppo has officially announced the Find X2 Pro, the company’s latest flagship that features some of the best material we’ve seen on a smartphone. Available in black ceramic or an orange vegan leather version that’s reminiscent of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G, the Find X2 Pro may be the best premium device that the company has created.

Let’s start off with the screen, the Find X2 Pro has a 6.7-inch OLED display that comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It has a 3168-by-1440 pixel resolution along with curved edges and support for HDR10+. While Samsung’s Galaxy S20 has a similar 120Hz refresh rate, you can only use it at a certain resolution. Not with the Find X2 Pro – you can freely use the 120Hz refresh rate in all its 1440p goodness. Oppo says that the refresh rate dynamically changes depending on the content, and 120Hz kicks in when it is needed.

The Find X2 Pro also includes an O1 Ultra Vision Engine that can upscale video content from 60 fps to 120 fps along with converting SDR to HDR. It kind of feels like this is similar to the motion smoothing feature present on most TVs, where it is a function I would always turn off (and we recommended that you do the same) and thankfully the Find X2 Pro lets you do that.

A triple camera setup is found at the back that includes a 48-megapixel main camera, 13-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, and an ultrawide camera. Rounding off the specs is a Snapdragon 865 CPU with 5G support, 12GB of RAM, a generous 512GB of storage and a 4,260 mAh battery with support for SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging. It will run ColorsOS 7.1 which is based on Android 10.

A non-pro version simply called the Oppo Find X2 will also be released that includes less powerful hardware. This includes the 256GB of storage, 4,200 mAh battery and a different ultrawide sensor on the back camera.

“To deliver a holistic 5G experience to our users, OPPO is constantly innovating all aspects of our products – from screen, photography, charging, battery life, and design. The clear, smooth, and professional display of the OPPO Find X2 series sets a new standard for flagship smartphones, bringing mobile interaction and display experience to a new level in the 5G era,” said Ethan Xue, President of OPPO MEA in a statement.

No word yet on a local release here in the UAE but we will update this news item once the information becomes available.
