OnePlus 8T: Faster Warp charging and 120Hz display coming next month

September 24, 2020

It will also be cheaper than the OnePlus 8.

While initial reports said that OnePlus might be skipping a ‘T’ upgrade by the end of this year, that isn’t the case anymore because OnePlus has officially confirmed an October event for the OnePlus 8T. We’re still a few weeks away from the date, but OnePlus has already started teasing details about its upcoming flagship.

First is the confirmation that the OnePlus 8T will now have 120Hz AMOLED Fluid Display, up from the 90Hz present on the OnePlus 8 released last March. The display will also be a flat one, different from the curved screens present on the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro.

Additional display details include a 240Hz sampling rate for reduced latency, meaning that every touch will be registered with great precision perfect for playing games. The display will also support 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut for the most accurate colors and will of course support the HDR10+ standard.

Another detail about the OnePlus 8T that was revealed is support for faster 65W (up from 30W) Warp Charge. Similar to Oppo’s fast charging tech, the 65W Warp Charge uses two battery cells. It will be interesting how long it would take for the OnePlus 8T to charge given the faster speeds.

More details should be revealed on October 14th, when OnePlus officially unveils the 8T.
