Upgraded flagship is coming next month.
While it was certain that OnePlus wasn’t planning on releasing an upgraded version of the OnePlus 8, it looks like that won’t be the case anymore. Leakers have said that the OnePlus 8T could be launching via an online-only event happening on October 14th.
Just like previous OnePlus ‘T’s’, the OnePlus 8T will likely have upgraded hardware that includes the Snapdragon 865+ along with a faster 120Hz display (the OnePlus 8 had a 90Hz display). It was also pointed out that a Pro version might not be coming, with only the OnePlus 8T launching this October.
There will also be an upgraded camera sensor that will have a similar layout to the Samsung Galaxy S20. Along with that, it will also borrow design elements from the recently released OnePlus Nord. That being said, the OnePlus 8T will still resemble the OnePlus 8 released last March.
Lastly, the OnePlus 8T could launch with OxygenOS 11 that’s based on Android 11. OnePlus has already started testing the new update through a beta program for OnePlus 8/8 Pro users. While fans praised the fast rollout of the beta (which could point to a public release in a couple of weeks), many expressed disappointment on the design changes. OxygenOS was mostly loved by users because of its near-stock Android UI, but with version 11, it is now going towards a different UI that mimics the same design as Samsung’s OneUI.
More details should be revealed once OnePlus officially announces the 8T next month.
