A cheaper alternative to the OnePlus 8.
The OnePlus 8 may have been one of the best Android smartphones released this year, but this smartphone also marked a change from OnePlus’ strategy since it has already priced it at par with most flagships. Thankfully, the company has promised a cheaper alternative will be available soon, and today we now know the new smartphone to be the OnePlus Nord.
The OnePlus Nord will pack a Snapdragon 765G chipset from Qualcomm that also supports 5G. There’s 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage plus a quad-camera setup at the back. OnePlus has also packed a dual front-facing camera at the front.
To coincide with the launch, OnePlus has started sharing teasers on the official OnePlus Nord account called New Beginnings. You can watch the 10-minute episode on their Instagram account that showcases different design options for the OnePlus Nord, but it wasn’t confirmed which one will be the official design.
Rumors suggest that the OnePlus Nord will come at a more affordable $400 price that pits it with other devices from Xiaomi and Realme, who have been dominating the budget and mid-range smartphone segment, especially in Asia.
