Would you buy one?
While Apple isn’t in a hurry to bring out a foldable device, it is certainly planning on releasing one soon. A report from renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned that the foldable iPhone will have an 8-inch QHD+ flexible OLED display.
Aside from offering great contrast and colours via the foldable OLED display, the foldable iPhone is said to include a ‘silver nanowire touch solution’ that is said to bring a better advantage to the current foldable screens. The technology is also said to be essential on devices that support multiple folds, though not a lot of information was given. Kuo did say that a sample of the silver nanowires touch technology is already present on the HomePod’s touch-sensitive interface.
Rumoured to release sometime in 2023, this foldable iPhone could finally join the ranks of Samsung, Motorola, and Huawei, whose foldable devices are now already on their second generation. Additionally, the inclusion of a foldable device also means significant changes to iOS, which could soon mimic the iPadOS thanks to the larger screen. It could also be possible that the iPad in turn could move to a more desktop-like experience considering the new iPad Pros now run on the M1 processor that also runs on the new iMac, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini.
The only question we have is how much will this foldable iPhone cost? One thing is for sure – I better start saving now.
