This is what Apple should have done.
Since Apple skipped placing Touch ID underneath its iPhone display, a lot of manufacturers have been rushing to bring that technology to their own devices – and it looks like we’re going to see the first generation of these smartphones that feature fingerprint recognition right underneath the display.
Vivo isn’t exactly a well-known brand, but its line of smartphones offer a choice of functionality and performance at a decent price, which is usually the ones preferred by budget-conscious consumers.
Vivo’s release of the X20 Plus puts it in the front as the first manufacturer to implement a fingerprint sensor underneath the screen. The smartphone isn’t really brand new, it is, in fact, an upgrade from last year’s model with only the in-display fingerprint sensor built into it.
Specifications are still the same: a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 2160-by-1080 pixel resolution that’s powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor, 4 GB of RAM along with dual cameras. There’s also 128 GB of internal storage and a generous 3,800 mAh battery. It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
Vivo is scheduled to officially announce the X20 Plus next week. No word yet on an international release since they’re looking to initially launch the device in China first.
