Monster files lawsuit against Beats

January 11, 2015

Lawsuit claims that Monster was cut out of the dealings with Apple.

A report by The Verge showed that Monster, who used to make the headphones for Beats, is now filing a lawsuit against the now-owned Apple company and its co-founder Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine.

In the complaint, it said that Beats has a ‘pattern’ that ‘lures entrepreneurs, musicians, and electronic product developers with promises of growing a business as partners’ and then quickly turn around and ‘squeeze the trusting partner out of the equation.’

The allegations of fraud seemed to have happened when the Beats was in a current deal with HTC which provided the sound technologies for it earlier line of Android smartphones. Another instance of ‘Monster-bashing’ (a term they came up with to describe Beats’ attacks on Monster) was set during the Consumer Electronics Show in 2012 and 2013, in which Beats representatives made Monster choose which line of audio products should be on display since they do not want to share the shelf space.

Beats has yet to comment on the lawsuit but we will update you with the latest developments from this issue as soon as the information becomes available.
