Move over Siri, here comes Moneypenny

July 15, 2015

But she will not be working with James Bond.

After making its focus on Messaging, Facebook is now prepping to release a new virtual assistant to match the likes of Apple’s Siri, Google Now and BlackBerry Assistant. The assistant has the codename ‘Moneypenny’.

While no official details were given, it seems that Facebook will make it stand out from other virtual assistant by making ‘real people’ answering the questions. Current virtual assistants connect to a central server where your queries will be processed to provide with an answer.

It is also not clear if the service will be part of the current Facebook apps or if a separate app is needed. If Facebook decides to push through this service, let us hope Moneypenny has something to offer aside from the fancy name.
