New Chrome/Android hybrid to be named ‘Andromeda’

September 27, 2016

To be announced next week.

Aside from the upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones scheduled to be announced next week, Google is also preparing to announce its Android/Chrome OS hybrid called ‘Andromeda’.

The OS will debut on a still-unannounced Huawei-made Nexus device along with the upcoming Pixel 3 notebook. The upcoming Nexus device is quite a surprise considering the rumors circulating that Google is ditching the Nexus branding.

There are also reports saying the tablet could be the 7-inch variant along with 4 GB of RAM. Additionally, the new Pixel 3 notebook will improve upon its predecessor in every way – faster Intel chip, new solid state drives, bigger RAM and a 10 hour battery life.

Andromeda does seem like the next logical step, especially now that Android apps can run natively on select Chrome OS notebooks.

We’ll know for sure once Google formally announces the Andromeda and its new Pixel smartphones next week.
