Nokia leads with 96 percent of its smartphones already running Android Pie
September 1, 2019

Some are also confirmed to receive Android 10 when it rolls out this month.

A report by Counterpoint Research showed that in terms of Android updates, Nokia leads the pack. At the moment though, the report doesn’t include data from other brands like OnePlus and Google, which are also consistent with their own Android update rollout.

In the report, 96 percent of Nokia’s smartphone line that was sold since Q3 of 2018 are all already running Android Pie. Nokia is first on the list, closely followed by Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and Lenovo. The data also revealed that not only is Nokia the first in updating its smartphone to the latest Android software, but they are also the fastest.

Nokia’s rise to the top may be attributed to the fact that it prioritizes updates for its entire smartphone line, not just the flagships which most manufacturers do. Almost, if not all, of Nokia’s smartphones, also belong to the Android One program, meaning that it would be one of the first devices to get the latest Android updates and security patches.

It’s an incredible feat by HMD Global if you look at it, especially because security is something that can’t be taken for granted nowadays. It also keeps Nokia’s promise of making the most out of your purchase with every one of their devices (entry-level or midrange) with updates.
