Nokia unleashes its first 5G smartphone

It also expands its Originals family and a new hassle-free data roaming service.

HMD Global has officially announced Nokia’s first 5G smartphone, the Nokia 8.3 5G. The smartphone supports standalone and non-standalone networks, which makes it easily compatible with existing and upcoming 5G networks around the world.

The Nokia 8.3 5G comes with a PureView quad camera and ZEISS optics that enable you to capture low-light video and OZO audio. The smartphone will run on a Snapdragon 765G Modular Platform and comes in a special Polar Night color, taking inspiration from the arctic sky.

Next is the Nokia 5.3 that comes with a quad-camera and runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 CPU and also comes with a two-day battery life. The AI-powered quad-camera helps deliver crystal clear images even in low light when you use Night Mode. It also comes with a 6.55-inch screen, a dedicated Google Assistant button and runs on Android 10.

For the budget-conscious, the Nokia 1.3 brings the power of Android 10 (Go edition) that also comes with apps that are light on size and data usage. The Nokia 1.3 is among the first smartphones that come with Camera Go that’s powered by low-light AI image fusion technology along with a large HD+ edge-to-edge screen.

HMD Global brings back a classic with the Nokia 5310, a reimagining of the original 5310 Xpress Music. It comes with an MP3 player, FM radio, dual front-facing speakers for a smartphone that focuses on the go.

Lastly, HMD Global has also announced the HMD Connect global data roaming service. This enables users around the world to travel using a data SIM with various data plans that they can use. You sign up through the app and then receive a SIM card so they’ll be instantly connected with supported networks in over 120 countries. The service will launch in beta through

Nokia has also highlighted its current tie-in with the latest James Bond adventure No Time To Die with a global campaign featuring the new 007 agent Nomi (played by Lashana Lynch) that will commence close to the movie’s November release date.
