The Dubai-based company is partnering with Neolix to make it happen.

Noon has just announced a new partnership with Beijing-based technology company Neolix to bring driverless vehicles to the company’s fleet where it will be used to deliver packages to customers. Neolix specializes in the R&D and production of autonomous vehicles.

Noon founder Mohamed Alabbar has officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Neolix Huitong (Beijing) Technology co., LTD to make this happen. The delivery vehicles will be introduced in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, where it will be the first time such technology will be used here in the Middle East.

“Introducing new technology to the region that will improve the e-commerce experience for customers is something we’re incredibly excited about. noon is very proud to bring driverless delivery vans to the streets in our cities. We look forward to bringing many such innovations over the next few months. We are a hungry, talented and ambitious nation. I hope it will inspire our tech-driven youth to dream big and to achieve those dreams because everything is possible here,” Alabbar said in a statement.

With the help of Neolix, Noon will soon trial autonomous vehicles in completing last-mile deliveries in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The driverless vans will be built by Neolix, which will be retrofitted to suit the Middle East’s weather conditions.

After a few months, there’s a good chance that your order from Noon will be delivered by a driverless van. Awesome, right? Tell us what you think about the new service below!
