Convertible devices ideal for school environments.

Acer has just launched two new Chromebooks made for the education market. The new notebooks include the Acer Chromebook Spin 512 and the Acer Chromebook Spin 511 which both feature the latest Intel Pentium Silver or Celeron CPUs. These notebooks also feature durable designs that make them ideal for any school environment.

“Whether learning from home or in a classroom setting, students need a reliable Chromebook that will keep them connected and ready to engage,” said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc. “The new Acer Chromebooks provide the consistent performance, connectivity and durability featured [that] students need to help them succeed in their education.”

Both Chromebooks also feature an Antimicrobial Coating Gorilla Glass touch display that is tougher than regular glass. This coating helps resist the growth of odor and stain-causing microorganisms. It’s also scratch-resistant so it’s tough enough to be shared by multiple students.

The Chromebook Spin 511 has an 11.6-inch HD IPS display while the Chromebook Spin 512 features a 3:2 aspect ratio HD+ IPS display with 18 percent more vertical space.

The devices are also military standard-tested (MIL-STD 810JH) and have an impact-resistant body that can withstand daily wear and tear. There are even a shock-absorbent bumper and a reinforced design that can protect the device from high drops.

The Chromebook Spin 512 also has a BRP & EPA-compliant silver-ion antimicrobial agent in the keyboard and its surrounding surface that can help reduce bacteria and stop the spread of disease. Other features include mechanically anchored keys that can’t be removed easily, spill-resistant keyboards with a gutter system that can easily expel liquids and a touchpad that is moisture-resistant.

What’s more, the Chromebook support up to 10 hours of battery life and also has 64GB eMMC storage and 8GB of RAM. Since it’s a Chromebook, you have immediate access to Google’s entire suite of services including the Google Play Store for installing apps.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 512 will retail for 399 Euros and the Acer Chromebook Spin 311 will retail for 369 Euros. Both Chromebooks will be released later this year.
