Nvidia’s SHIELD Tablet is here – and it’s as awesome as it looks

July 20, 2014

The SHIELD tablet is launching this fall.

Nvidia has always been a frontrunner on all aspects of gaming with a huge focus on hardware peripherals. While their SHIELD handheld gaming tablet was hit and miss, I was really a big fan of it – the hardware controls gave me an awesome way to enjoy Android-based games.

Earlier this month, there was a rumor that an Nvidia gaming tablet is in the works, and it now we have confirmation about the product, which is due to be launched later this year.

VideoCardz.com has gotten images of the tablet, including accessories and its specifications. It also confirms that there will be a separate controller made for the tablet that you can use for games.

Due to be announced this week, the SHIELD Tablet will come in at 8-inches (full HD), an inch larger than the Nexus 7 and it will be powered by the company’s Tegra K1 Quad-core CPU. It will also have front-facing speakers like the HTC One, 16/32 GB versions and what the company calls a 5-megapixel front-facing ‘selfie’ camera – I’m actually scared about that feature.
